“Sources close to the player suggest that after almost a decade away from home he wants to be closer to his family and his desire to rejoin the national team fold is driving this potential move back to the PSL with his last appearance coming in the COSAFA Cup in 2023. Although the exact club Cele will join remains unclear, there is a strong possibility he will make a move to the Betway Premiership next year,” the insider added.

In July, Soccer Laduma reported that Kaizer Chiefs were looking to reignite their interest in Thabo Cele. According to the source of the publication, Amakhosi have been following the Bafana Bafana midfielder for several years.

“They have been following him for almost three years now and the team’s scouts have been monitoring him and now he is back on Chiefs’ radar. Indications are that they have been talking to his representatives and the talks have been positive. “He will be like a replacement for Siyethemba Sithebe in the defensive midfield position. So it’s a opportunity that could happen in this window period,” said the source.

The KwaMashu talented midfielder has spent his professional career overseas and it remains to be seen if he will join Kaizer Chiefs.
