Kaizer Chiefs: New captain to be appointed?
Kaizer Chiefs currently have a leadership dilemma on their hands with fans calling for a new captain.
Kaizer Chiefs captain, Yusuf Maart has been dropped to the bench in several of Amakhosi’s recent PSL fixtures with Inacio Miguel wearing the armband.
However, Miguel is suspended – again. So, Miguels discipline issues and Maarts form see’s Amakhosi at a bit of a crossroads.
CHIEFS STAR SUSPENDED – AGAIN
Miguel has been served yet another suspension by the PSL.
Meaning, he will miss Chiefs next BetWay Premiership fixture against Richards Bay on Wednesday, 27 November 2024.
Whilst, Maart has struggled for form recently. Thus, sparking fans to call for a new Amakhosi captain.
However, in all likeliness, Maart will return to the starting line up to don the captaincy armband for Chiefs.
So, Amakhosi fans must have faith in the former Bafana Bafana midfielder. Nasreddine Nabi and Amakhosi management are backing him as their leader for the 2024/25 season.
TRUST POOR DISCIPLINE OR FORM SLUMP?
Ultimately, Chiefs must choose to either trust that Maart will regain his form or that Miguel will overcome his discipline issues.
Furthermore, both cases are possible. It is time for Maart to step up and lead and for Miguel to learn from his mistakes and remain calm. There’s no doubt in both mens potential.
Meanwhile, this is a very young Chiefs side so there aren’t many experienced members left.
Recently, the likes of Keagan Dolly and S’fiso Hlanti have departed. Moreover, Khune is no longer contracted to Chiefs as a player. Finally, experienced stars like Sibogiseni Mthethwa and Happy Mashiane are both linked with January exits.
