Kaizer Chiefs’ Lebogang Manyama has revealed his all-time favourite player. The former midfielder is an easy guess though.
KAIZER CHIEFS’ MANYAMA NAMES HIS FAVOURITE PLAYER
Ever heard of an underrated legend? Yes, an underrated legend. That is what we can call Manyama’s favourite player.
During a quick-fire question and answer for Kaizer Chiefs’ player profiles, the Tembisa-born Manyama was asked to name the player he loves to watch the most.
The 31-year-old said it was the club’s former central midfielder David ‘DVD’ Mathebula. Many of us surely remember Mathebula’s class in the number eight and 10 roles but he is somewhat not celebrated as much as he should in the media and the streets.
Chiefs’ Manyama also revealed that the Brazilian legend Kaka is his favourite footballer too. This one actually explains why Manyama is nicknamed Kaka.
“Favourite Player: Kaká and David Mathebula,” he said to the club’s media.
For those of us who may be too young to know Mathebula, the Giyani-born star is probably in the mould of Sphelele Mkhulise at Mamelodi Sundowns, but with a bit more flair and off-the-cuff style than Mkhulise’s somewhat over-coached game.
AMAKHOSI STAR ITUMELENG KHUNE NAMES HIS FAVOURITE PLAYER
Here is a fine example of self-confidence. Kaizer Chiefs superstar Itumeleng Khune has named himself as his favourite player of all time. Is this surprising? Hhmm hard to tell.
The Ventersdorp-born player, now aged 34 years of age, was asked the question by Kaizer Chiefs media as the club created players’ profile for this season. Read the full story here.
