Kaizer Chiefs latest: First FIVE fixtures revealed
Kaizer Chiefs get their 2024/25 campaign under-way this weekend.
The Glamour Boys have enjoyed a lengthy off-season break in which the club underwent massive structural changes.
Nasreddine Nabi has taken charge of the Amakhosi while a number of new players have joined the club following a disastrous last season.
Let’s take a look at Nabi’s first five Kaizer Chiefs fixtures below.
Opening Kaizer Chiefs fixtures revealed
First up for the Glamour Boys is a tricky trip to Bloemfontein to face Marumo Gallants on Saturday afternoon at the Free State Stadium.
Nabi’s side then enjoy another break before tackling AmaZulu FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday 25 September.
Kaizer Chiefs then host arch rivals Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium three days later.
The Amakhosi then go on a long break before tackling SuperSport United on 26 October. Four days later, Nabi’s side travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium to face the newly-promoted Magesi FC.
In other related news, Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung has opened up on Itumeleng Khune’s future at the club.
The legendary Bafana Bafana goalkeeper has been a rare one-club player for Chiefs. Since being promoted to the Amakhosi first team in 2004, Khune has won 12 trophies, however he now appears to have been removed from the Amakhosi squad for the new season.
While the player himself is adamant he still has a few more years left in him as a player, Kaizer Chiefs are of the opinion it’s time for him to hang up his gloves.
And now, Jessica Motaung has opened up on Chiefs’ plan with the 37-year-old.
Khune set for new role at Kaizer Chiefs?
“Khune has been a big part of the Kaizer Chiefs family, someone that we value very seriously,” Jessica Motaung told Radio 2000 as quoted by IDiski Times.
“We are in process and discusses around the role that he can play. In fact one of the things that I was researching in the UK, the ambassadorial role of other players for their clubs after they’ve retired or moved.
“We are in discussions and I’m very excited we have meetings that are set up for us to really look at finalising and going through certain proposals with each.
“But we’re very excited to sit with him around the table and really carve out a really exciting way of taking him to the next level within the Kaizer Chiefs family. Talks are taking place and we’re making sure we’re keeping him within the fold.”
How many points will Nabi collect from his first five matches?
