Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr believes there is a still a chance for Amakhosi to win the league title this season.
However, he admits the only way to achieve that is IF log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns drop points in the remaining matches of the season.
As things stand, Sundowns lead fifth-placed Chiefs by a whopping 19 points although they have played four games more than Stuart Baxter’s side.
Motaung Jnr said the biggest priority for Chiefs is to clinch a CAF Champions League spot – which would be a top two finish.
He further refused to rule out the possibility of Chiefs beating Sundowns to the league title, saying it could still happen the same way it happened with them a few years ago.
CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE OR NOTHING FOR KAIZER CHIEFS BOSS MOTAUNG JNR
“On the season, of course, the biggest priority now is to compete as best as we can to make sure we clinch a Champions League spot or anything can happen in the league. Sundowns can drop points – it happened to us before,” Motaung Jnr told reporters.
“But, of course, the important thing is to make sure that we can salvage the season because it has been a terrible sore point being knocked out in the first round of the Nedbank Cup.
