Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung has announced the club’s philosophy and how they’ll embrace 2024-2025’s challenges.

“Our core business right now is to play football; win matches, get the points in the bag and put trophies in the cabinet” is what Kaizer Motaung Jnr told Robert Marawa in a recent interview.
That sounds a lot like words fans want to hear, but do they mean anything?

Meanwhile, Chiefs kick off the new 2024-2025 Betway Premiership campaign against Marumo Gallants. Fans can expect a few tough assignments in the opening weeks, including a meeting with champions Sundowns and a battle with last season’s seventh-place finishers SuperSport. It’s a tricky start to 2024-2025.

With four quality central defenders now at the club, Chiefs could opt to deploy three at the back in certain matches. Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Spiwe Msimango were the club’s first-choice duo last term while New boys Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel will want to stake an immediate claim in Nasreddine Nabi’s starting XI.

Six to miss start of the season?
Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove picked up a foot injury in Turkiye on the club’s pre-season tour and he’ll still be out for a few more weeks. The same is true of Brandon Petersen, who’s now essentially Chiefs’ third-choice goalkeeper. Fringe winger Tebogo Potsane, full-back Dillan Solomons and midfielder George Matlou are all still out while playmaker Mduduzi Mdantsane is a long-term absentee.
