Kaizer Chiefs begin talks with European clubs ahead of preseason!

Kaizer Chiefs players and staff are already expected to be back at Naturena for the first phase of preseason soon.

Chiefs management are believed to be reporting for duty on Friday, while the players will follow suit soon after.

When the Chiefs players arrive, they’re expected to do regular pre-season testing. This is usually followed up by a week or two of working in the gym. Then after that, the players get to hit the field, where the new coach can assess their playing capabilities. The first few days are expected to be handled by incoming assistant coach Fernando Da Cruz. He is expected to lay the groundwork for Nasreddine Nabi

Chiefs set to return

Last week, this publication reported that Chiefs could be heading to Europe, just like rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. The duo went to Spain and the Netherlands respectively last pre-season. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Amakhosi have been fielding calls to teams in Belgium and the Netherlands for a similar experience this season.

“The plans are there. The talks and negotiations with the teams in Belgium and Holland are ongoing. Management is now just waiting on the coach to approve where they should actually go. Negotiations with the clubs to play against and use their facilities are ongoing,” confirmed one source on Chiefs plans.

A second source reveals that not everybody will have the luxury of travelling with the Chiefs contingent.

Preseason in Europe under Nabi?

“I don’t think it will be just everyone going there. They will see by that time which technical team member or player is going. That’s why they (Chiefs) are waiting for the coach to approve the trio first and look at who will be on that tour. But they are working on going to either the Netherlands or Belgium for this off season training,” said the source

Will a pre-season abroad bring back a spark to Chiefs next season?
