A 16-year-old boy who was waylaid and stabbed by suspected thieves yesterday at Kirigime Mosque in Kabale Municipality is admitted at Kabale Regional referral hospital in critical condition.
The victim identified as Banert Arinda, a Senior 2 student of Nyakinoni secondary school, a resident of Kibimbiri village, Rushoroza parish, Kihihi Sub County in Kanungu district was waylaid by about five people when he was with his elder brother Isaac Niwamanya.
Hamis Salim the Kirigime ward LC2 Chairperson says on Monday at around 8pm, while the two were going to visit him, the thugs attacked them and took off with their money which they got from selling tomatoes.
Arinda was stabbed with a knife in the chest while Niwamanya escaped unhurt.
Niwamanya mobilized boda boda riders and other people who rushed there to rescue Arinda and also apprehended one of the suspects identified only as Naboth, and beat up.
Police rushed to the scene and took both the victim and the suspect to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.
