The abhorrent event has caused an almighty panic at the facility, and law enforcement officials are working hard to restore calm and find some answers to this unfathomable tragedy. As it stands, details surrounding this incident remain sketchy.

Although the nurse was declared dead at the scene, the cop who turned the gun on himself is still with us – albeit in a critical condition. It’s understood that Tembisa Hospital will consider reopening later in the day.

Tembisa Hospital ‘not receiving patients’ after tragic shooting

Appalled by what has unfolded at one of their own hospitals, the Gauteng Government issued a statement just moments ago, advising members of the public to steer clear of the Tembisa institution for the time being

“The Gauteng Department of Health would like to advise members of the public needing access to healthcare services at Tembisa Hospital today to go elsewhere. The hospital remains inaccessible following a fatal shooting incident.”

“Just after 8:00 on Wednesday, a 30-year-old police officer entered the Accident and Emergency parking lot, and opened fire on the enrolled nursing assistant, before turning the gun on himself. The nurse died at the scene, whereas the police officer is in a critical condition. Tembisa Hospital is not in a position to receive the public into the facility.”
