Julius Malema taunts Ramaphosa, Magashule with ‘elephants’ jibe

A ten-word Tweet from Julius Malema has left many of his followers in stitches on Wednesday, after he compared Cyril Ramaphosa and Ace Magashule to two fighting elephants.

Cyril Ramaphosa vs Ace Magashule

The ANC heavyweights are seemingly on a collision course, despite the president’s claims that all is well within the party. Ramaphosa flip-flopped on whether he classed the organisation as ‘unified’ or not, giving two very different speeches during this week’s NEC meetings. Magashule, meanwhile, looks set to finally face the music.

The Secretary-General has been told to attend the ANC Integrity Commission on Saturday 12 December. The showdown will determine if Ace can carry on serving the party, or if he must step aside. Any decision is likely to rile-up at least one faction of the ANC, as the fault-lines running through the 108-year-old party expand.

Of course, where there is chaos, Julius Malema is never too far behind. The EFF leader chipped in with his two-cents’ worth, using a very cryptic elephant analogy to describe the current state of affairs within the ANC:

“When two elephants fight [Cyril Ramaphosa and Ace Magashule], you should know who will suffer…”

Trunk status: Malema stokes Ramaphosa, Magashule tensions

A stampede of corruption allegations has engulfed the ANC recently, with several high-profile figures getting embroiled in the PPE tender scandal. Ace Magashule, however, will be taken to ‘tusk’ over a dodgy asbestos contract that he authorised while serving as Free State Premier. The deal enriched several cronies, and contractual obligations were largely ignored.

Far from being wild, the allegations against the SG are backed-up by evidence supplied to the Hawks. Sadly for Mr. Magashule, Ramaphosa did not forget about this issue – and a date with destiny looms for his controversial colleague.
