“I am extremely grateful, to the government of the republic of Uganda for nominating me to replace my brother ambassador Ssenyomo on this position. I am very grateful to the president of Uganda, minister of Foreign Affairs and all the people in the government of Uganda that have worked for my being here today,” he said.

Ssengendo promised to work tirelessly so that he execute all the duties in this particular post to what he called the best of his ability.

“I shall do whatever in my powers to ensure that we do what is expected of us. I shall discharge duties of my post in OIC with honesty, sincerity and royalty,” he noted.

A rector at IUIU is equivalent to a Vice-Chancellor at Makerere, Kyambogo, KIU, KU or any other University.

At the time of his demise, Ssenyomo had held this position for two years since 2018.

While officiating the session, Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, the OIC Secretary General used the theme (United against Terrorism for Peace and Development) to remind the world about threat that is caused by terrorism, with its negative impacts on; economic growth rates, cooperation ties and worsening Human Development Indices (HDI) rankings.

Dr. Othaimeen valued the role assigned to the OIC Sawt al-Hikma (Voice of Wisdom) Center, which acts in coordination with the international Islamic Academies to bring reason to bear and promote both moderation and tolerance.
