Is this THE game-changing statement signing Kaizer Chiefs need?

Kaizer Chiefs are exploring three incoming midfield deals. One is the skilful schemer Sphelele Mkhulise.

Amakhosi soon to formalize their interest in Mkhulise?

Kaizer Chiefs are interested in formulating an approach for Sundowns’ technically gifted midfield schemer Sphelele Mkhulise. The 28-year-old from Pietermaritzburg has three goals from eight appearances across all competitions this term. However, he only made 15 league appearances for the champions last term. Overall, he’s made 156 appearances for them, scoring 10 goals and supplying five assists. Although Manqoba Mngqithi has sung his praises, he’s also opened the door to a sale by proclaiming that Mkhulise isn’t productive enough in the final third.

“Kaizer Chiefs are targeting Mkhulise…he’s not playing much so he might be open to a new challenge, especially under [coach] Nabi. Seeing how well [Gastón] Sirino is doing might be key in luring him.”

Before concluding that the “Chiefs are trying to understand Mkhulise’s situation with Sundowns.”

Proven winner who needs a change of scenery

Mkhulise is a six-time Betway Premiership winner with 156 Sundowns appearances under his belt. This man has been around the block, but he only made 15 league appearances out of 30 last term. At his age, there’s still plenty more to come from the skilful, Pietermaritzburg-born midfield maestro. Unlike Gaston Sirino who’s a short-term solution for Nasreddine Nabi’s side at 33 years old, Mkhulise’s within his prime years as a footballer. He could be the man to reinvigorate an attacking unit looking short of ideas.
