INEC urged to ensure fairness in allocation of new polling units in Ogun

A leader in Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State, who is also the President of Gbenga Akinwande Foundation, Engr Gbenga Akinwande,  has appealed to the INEC Commissioner in Ogun State  to ensure fairness, equity, and justice in the allocation of newly created polling units in Ogun state.

In a letter written to the state INEC Commissioner, Professor Abdulganiy Raji, Akinwande said:  “Over the years, Ogun West, which has about one-third of  state’s population and biggest landmass has been shortchanged electorally with fewer allocations of polling units.

”At the moment, Ogun West has about 918 polling units, out of the 3203 in the state, representing 28.7% of the total electoral polling units in Ogun state.”

Akinwande stated that it would be appreciated if the newly created additional 1832 polling units in Ogun state is shared equally among the three senatorial districts, so as to redress the worsening political misfortunes of Ogun West.

He further appealed to the commission to apply fairness, equity and justice as  the core determinant factors in carrying out this important assignment so that the people of Ogun West can as well feel true & equal franchise like the other zones in the state.
