I’m Still in the Presidential Race – Katumba Dismisses Stepping Down, NIRA Job Rumours

John Katumba, one of the eleven Presidential candidates in the forthcoming 2021 elections, has rubbished  claims that he has stepped down from the race after being offered a job at the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA).

This rumour erupted after photos of Katumba with some senior officials from NIRA, taken after his visit to their offices early this week, were posted on his social media platforms.

“I have heard many people spreading this baseless rumour. It’s not true. The main reason for my visit was to find out from NIRA officials why it’s hard for people, especially the youth, to get their National Identity cards even after fulfilling all requirements for renewal or replacement,” Katumba clarified.

Katumba further revealed that he is in consultation with his lawyers to find a way forward on how to deal with the people masterminding the rumours legally.

Meanwhile, last night, Katumba, who was destined for Kapchorwa, suspended his campaigns along other candidates like Gen Mugisha Muntu until their colleagues; Hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu and Hon Patrick Amuriat are released from police cells where they were being held on numerous charges.
