Socialite Akuapem Poloo has disclosed that she still regrets taking a nude photo with her son and posting on social media in 2020; a decision that continues to haunt her.

In an interview on Accra FM on Wednesday, May 22, Akuapem Poloo, born Rosemond Brown, expressed her deep remorse over the incident.

“Since childhood, till I grew up, my only regret is the picture I took with my son. Aside from that, I have no regrets. The memory is seriously haunting me,” she admitted.

“I’m thinking about my son, he’ll grow up. As he is growing now, he’s asking a lot of questions already. As a single mother, I need to prepare myself for how I’ll answer him for him to understand the situation of how his nakedness and he standing in front of me as if he’s looking at mommy’s nakedness will sound in his mind. That is my only regret,” she added.

The controversial photo, posted in July 2020 to mark her son’s seventh birthday, showed Akuapem Poloo squatting naked in front of her son, which sparked widespread public outrage.

In response, the Accra High Court sentenced her to three months in prison in April 2021 as a punitive measure aimed at deterring similar actions.

Akuapem Poloo pleaded guilty to three charges: publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence in ways that undermine the privacy and integrity of another person, and engaging in domestic violence which can spoil the dignity of another human being.

Following her sentencing, Akuapem Poloo appealed the decision at the Accra High Court. After spending days in prison, she satisfied the court’s bail conditions, which included a sum of GH¢80,000 with three sureties and depositing her passport at the court’s registry. She was subsequently released on bail pending the appeal of her 90-day jail term.

In December 2021, the Appeals Court reversed her jail sentence, imposing a fine of GH¢12,000 instead.

Despite this legal resolution, Akuapem Poloo’s regret over the incident remains a significant burden
