‘I started feeling like a product’; Korede Bello explains Mavins Records exit
Singer, Korede Bello, has explained why he had to leave the Don Jazzy-led Mavins Records label in 2021. He said he was beginning to feel like a money-spinning product.
He made the revelation in an interview with Hip TV, adding that he needed time for introspection.
Korede Bello, who had hits such as Godwin, Mungo Park, Romantic, Belloved, among others, joined Mavins Records, and left seven years later.
‘Why I left’
He told KimOprah, the Hip TV host: “I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why.”
“Because I was at a stage where I started to feel like a product that is just there (at Mavins Records) to make money.
“You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit, after the next whatever it is that can get you into conversations.
“So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle.”
