Fallah, representing Electoral District #1 (Foya Statutory District), Lofa County, emphasized that his recent actions are not a betrayal of his party or Speaker J. Fonati Koffa, but rather a necessary response to the pressing challenges facing the House.
“Our inability to convene as one body threatens the democratic foundation upon which this nation is built,” Fallah stated, underscoring the importance of a functioning legislature. He acknowledged the grievances raised by a majority of lawmakers against Speaker Koffa, which he believes must be addressed to restore credibility to the House.
Fallah clarified that while he supports Koffa, he has decided to engage with the dissenting lawmakers to ensure all voices are heard. “My decision is not a repudiation of my support for Speaker Koffa or the CDC; it’s about safeguarding our democracy,” he said. He noted that listening to his colleagues is essential for finding an amicable solution that satisfies all parties.
Addressing concerns about his loyalty, Fallah emphasized his long-standing commitment to the CDC since joining in 2005, stating, “I have NEVER ‘betrayed’ my party, and I do not intend to do so.” He stressed that his involvement with the lawmakers calling for Koffa’s removal was not a choice against his party but a constitutional obligation to address legislative gridlock.
Fallah called for unity and open dialogue among lawmakers, urging Koffa and his colleagues to come together to restore harmony in the House. “This is not a time for division or suspicion but a moment to reaffirm our shared commitment to the people of Liberia,” he concluded, advocating for cooperation to uphold the principles they are sworn to protect.
