The Caretaker Chairman of Orire Local Government of Oyo State, Mrs. Lidea Bankole, has denied allegation of sponsoring hoodlums to attack Tewure community.

She said the allegation is the handiwork of her enemies.

Some hoodlums reportedly invaded the community last week, during which people were allegedly beaten and injured over a land dispute.

The council boss in an interview with reporters in Ibadan described the allegations as false and malicious, targeted at tarnishing her image. She said: “How will the chief security officer of a local government hire thugs to attack her people? Tewure people have been living peacefully before the incident.”

Bankole said law enforcement agencies have started investigating the matter, adding that the suspects have been arrested and remanded.

She said peace has been restored to the community and urged residents to go about their activities without fear of molestation.
