Media mogul and now…rap star? South African media personality Bonang Matheba has taken television, radio and is now featuring on rap songs.
Matheba was one of the few features on A-Reece and Jay Jody’s new joint album, heaveN caN waiT: thE narroW dooR, vol.1 and surprisingly enough, this isn’t her first appearance on a South African rap song.
BONANG MATHEBA IN THE HIP-HOP WORLD
Apart from dating South African hip-hop star AKA, Bonang Matheba seems to be quite friendly with some of the country’s top hip-hop stars. The media mogul has gone from hanging out with them to featuring on their songs.
The 36-year-old featured on Reason’s 2014 album Audio High Definition, but sadly she didn’t drop any hot bars. Matheba delivered a duologue on The Mind: Please Don’t You Confuse Me with the rapper.
Unfortunately, Reason’s Audio High Definition has been removed from streaming platforms.
BONANG MATHEBA ON A-REECE AND JAY JODY’S NEW ALBUM
A-Reece and Jay Jody released a new album titled heaveN caN waiT: thE narroW dooR, vol.1 on Friday 2 December. The 11-track album featured the likes of ThandoNje, Ayanda Jiya, jazz musician Saul Madiope and saxophonist Malusi Masia.
After a quick listen to the album, one fan was quick to recognise Bonang Matheba’s voice on the ninth track, ridiculouS.
The fan wrote: “Ma’am? Is that your voice on ridiculouS by A-Reece.”
Bonang simply responded: ”It is.”
