Homemade pizza made easy
Preparing this pizza is super easy. You only need six ingredients to whip together this fluffy crust. And then you add all your favourite toppings, pop it into the oven and wait for your homemade pizza to cook to perfection.
Don’t be surprised if you receive a weekly request for this delicious pizza. For a real treat use bread flour instead of all-purpose flour and bake it on a pizza stone. Let us know in the comments of this recipe if you also celebrate National Pizza Day.
Homemade pizza recipe

1 cup warm water
2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar or honey
2½ cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
toppings of your choice
Preheat the oven to 230°C.
In a medium bowl, stir the yeast and sugar in warm water and let it stand until it becomes foamy. That will take about 5 to 10 minutes. Use warm, not boiling or hot water.
Stir in the flour, salt and oil. Mix until smooth, then let it rest for 5 minutes.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round shape, then transfer to a lightly greased baking tray or bakers peel dusted with cornmeal. You can also spread and press the dough into the tray and make any shape you’d like, a pizza doesn’t have to be round. You can even make mini pizzas.
Spread the dough with desired toppings and bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Spread a sauce like pasta sauce, tomato sauce, mayonnaise, barbeque sauce, white sauce or pesto.
Add toppings like salami, pepperoni, ham, fried bacon, grilled chicken, leftover roasted meat or steak, minced meat, mushrooms, peppers, olives, pineapple, corn, cheese, etc.
Sprinkle Italian herbs.
Once baked you can top off your pizza with sliced avocado or a handful of rocket.
Let the pizza cool for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
