‘He is going to get red cards after red cards’  – ex-Pirates coach warns Kaizer Chiefs captain

Former Orlando Pirates coach Mike Makaab has advised Kaizer Chiefs captain Miguel Inacio to stay disciplined on the field.

The 28-year-old defender has received five yellow cards and a red since joining Amakhosi in August. Although he has looked solid in the games he has been involved in, his temper has often got him into the referee’s books.

Makaab, who is now an agent, says Miguel will cost Chiefs if he doesn’t find a way to deal with his emotions during games.

Ex-Pirates coach Makaab says Kaizer Chiefs star needs to control emotions

“I looked at the captain, Inacio Miguel. I think he’s a top footballer, but he’s got to be less emotional,” Makaab said on GagasiFM’s ExtraTime

“He is going to get yellow card after yellow card and red card after red card if he doesn’t calm himself down.”

Kaizer Chiefs have failed to keep a cleansheet in their three four matches and the ex-Pirates coach said said Amakhosi leaders have failed to lead by example.

“As a captain, you need to have that composure and that sense of calmness so that when the young players around you are losing their heads or feel initiated or feel overwhelmed, it’s then your senior players that have to steady the ship,” Makaab added.

“Unfortunately, Chiefs’ senior players never steadied that ship at all.”

Unlike their rivals Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs have had a mixed start to the season under new coach Nasreddine Nabi. So far Amakhosi have won two of their five league matches in the Betway Premiership.

Can Miguel improve and stay discipline?
