Gulu City Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Betty Aol Ocan has called for more support towards widows in the City.
Aol, who was on Thursday visiting vendors at Lacor-Layibi Market and Bar-dege Lacor Market, urged all the widows and vulnerable mothers in the community to join development groups where they can be easily supported.
“We have too many widows who are suffering greatly and that is why I want to organize Gulu City Widows Association starting in every parish,” she said.
The MP also called on her constituents to desist from fighting at homes, citing the rising cases of domestic violence in the city.
“I encourage you to seek peace and reconciliation amongst yourselves.’’ she urged.
On his part, Michael Okello, the Chairperson of Layibi-Lacor Market asked government to gift soft loans to traders so that they can be able to sustain their businesses that has been hit by the Covid-19 restrictions
