Gov’t Calls for Focus on Male Victims of Gender Based Violence

In the wake of recent reports of increasing Sexual, Domestic and Gender Based violence cases during the Covid19 lockdown period, Government has asked civil society organizations and other key players in the humanitarian sector to start focus more on men who are suffering silently.

While officiating the opening of the Regional Training of Trainers for Professionals on how to combat Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in the Great Lakes Region held in Kampala, Ambassador Paul Mukumbya, a representative of Ambassador Patrick Mugoya the permanent secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that men fear reporting cases of violence to Police in fear of being embarrassed.
