Ghana winger Joseph Painstil scores as LA Galaxy beat Guadalajara to progress in Leagues Cup

Black Stars forward Joseph Paintsil continued his rich of form in the United States after scoring in the Leagues Cup game for LA Galaxy against Guadalajara.The 26-year-old netted in the 11th minute of a thrilling encounter as the game ended in penalty shootouts, with the MLS outfit advancing to the round of 32.The Mexican side, Guadalajara opened the scoring after just eight minutes through Alan Mozo but Paintsil responded three minutes later with a fine striker.Gabriel Pec, a fellow LA Galaxy Designated Player, gave the American side the lead with 23 minutes remaining but Cade Cowell forced the game to penalties with a late strike.Paintsil converted from the spot as LA Galaxy emerged victors 5-4 on penalties, progressing to the knockout stages, where they will face Seattle Sounders.The Black Stars winger joined the California in February from Belgium outfit KRC Genk and has instantly become a fans favourite, scoring nine goals and delivering seven assists across all competitions.
