Ghana FA advocates for peaceful 2024 general elections

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has called on the football community and all Ghanaians to embrace peace during the upcoming 2024 general elections scheduled for December 7.In a statement released on Wednesday, November 27, the GFA urged all citizens, particularly those involved in football, to participate in the polls with civility and decorum.The Association urges all participants in football and Ghanaians to perform their civic duties in a peaceful manner and wishes all Ghanaians a successful election, the statement read.To facilitate full participation in the elections, the GFA has announced a planned break across all its competitions. The Ghana Premier League, Access Bank Division One League, Malta Guinness Womens Premier League, and other competitions will pause after this weekend’s fixtures.The GFA Calendar for the 2024/25 season indicates that the Ghana Premier League, Access Bank Division One League, the Malta Guinness Womens Premier League, and all other competitions will take a short one-week break after this weekend’s MTN FA Cup Round of 64 games, Matchday 6 of the Malta Guinness Womens Premier League and all other matches, for the upcoming national General Election,” the GFA confirmed.Matches are set to resume on Friday, December 13, following the week-long break.
