GFA holds medical workshop to enhance Women’s Premier League Super Cup player care

A one-day medical workshop for clubs participating in the Womens Premier League Super Cup took place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, marking a vital step in improving medical care for women’s football teams in Ghana.The workshop focused on key areas including pre-season medical preparations, standard pre-competition assessments, handling medical emergencies in sports, doping control, menstrual hygiene, nutrition, and fluid and electrolyte management.The goal was to equip medical staff with essential knowledge to enhance player performance and safety. Dr. Christiana Baah, the lead trainer and a CAF Medical Officer, highlighted the importance of routine knowledge-sharing among healthcare professionals to maintain high standards in sports medicine.Participants expressed their appreciation to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for organizing the session, praising both the theoretical and practical insights provided. Many called for the program to be expanded and held annually to benefit a wider range of sports medicine practitioners.This initiative reflects the GFAs commitment to prioritizing player health and safety, in line with international sports medicine standards.
