Former Asante Kotoko star named Ethiopian Premier League Player of the Year

Umar Bashiru has been named 2023/24 Ethiopian Premier League Player of the Year.Midfielder Umar Bashiru has been named 2023/24 Ethiopian Premier League Player of the Year.He missed the ceremony on Thursday because he is with the Ethiopia Nigd Bank team in Tanzania to play Young Africans in the CAF Champions League tie.The Ethiopia Nigd Bank star beat off competition from teammate Fetuhdin Abdul Karim, Chernet Gugsa of Bahir Dar FC and Kenean Makenen who plays for Defence Force FCOthers are Shemeles of Defense Force FC, Hawasa City FCs Ali Suleman and Biniam Woleyta of Dicha FC.Bashiru had a great season by scoring seven goals and nine assists in 30 appearances.The former Asante Kotoko, WAFA and Karela FC midfielder is in his second season with Ethiopia Nigd Bank.
