SOKOTO: Sokoto state former Accountant general Alhaji Aminu Dodo Iyan Sokoto under the administration of former Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako at a news briefing on Thursday said the former administration of former Governor Aliyu Magatakarda has inherited nothing but unfinished projects from the then outgoing administration of Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa in 2007.

He said the claims made by former Governor Bafarawa are baseless, mischievous, and unfounded, as the administration despite several efforts could not lay its hands on the whereabouts of the alleged 13 billion naira claim left by the former Governor.

” When Bafarawa made the claim in 2007, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission ( EFCC) wades and commenced investigation to ascertain the veracity of the claim and later discovered that there was no substance to the claim as there is nothing in any of the state government account as that time”

” This is a claim made by 17 years after he left office which shows that, it’s not only mischievous but a scheme to play with the intelligence of people and to whip up sentiment a for cheap political gains”

” The EFCC had followed the case and filed 147 count charge which includes corruption, illegal sales of government shares, misappropriation, criminal breach of trust of trust, receiving stolen property and unauthorized payment committed between 2003 and 2007.”

” The state government during the period set up an investigative panel under the chairmanship of Alhaji Namadina Abdulrahman to find out where the said 13 billion Naira was lodged, just do discover that, the money was nowhere to be found”,

” The former administration of his successor Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako had inherited nothing but a number of unfinished projects.” Says the former A G.

“The panel could not trace anywhere among the contingent, subsidiary or principal Bank accounts held by Sokoto state government as of 29th May 2007.”

” Only two hundred and fifty-four million Naira was declared as credit balance in the consolidated revenue account of the government as at 29th May 2007 as recorded by the banks”

It could be recalled that Bafarawa reiterated on Wednesday at his residence in Sokoto while Inaugurating a 1 billion naira endowment fund, that he left 13 billion naira cash to his successor Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako on 29th May 2007 after he left office.
