Eight youngsters emerge winners of ‘Discipleship Bible Bee’ contest in FCT

Eight pupils have emerged winners of the 2024 Discipleship Bible Bee competition organised by Discipleship Family Academy(DFA) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The winners emerged at the grand finale of the annual contest, which tests children’s knowledge of the Bible, held on Saturday at the school premises in Gwarimpa, Abuja.

The event has influx of children between the ages of 6-17, who competed across four categories and winners went home with cash and a lot of consolation prizes.

The categories include: Category 1: feature children from six to nine years, category 2: feature children from 10 – 12 Years, category 3: children 13 – 15 Years and category 4: children from 16 – 17 Years.

The Bible bee, geared towards encouraging children to read and improve their understanding of God’s word, consisted of three rounds: preliminary, semi-final, and final, and at the end, three sets of winners emerged, after correctly answering questions about the Bible.

At the end of the competition, 13-year-old Bloom-Ann Benjamin emerged overall best and becomes ‘teenage millionaire’, as she clinched the N1,000,000 grand prize.

Also, young Uforo Idiongo Ema and Alexander Oboh took second positions, taking home N500,000 prize, while Zack Inikwot, Zayne Inikwot, Victor Praise, Etotok Mercy Joseph, Sophie Eniwaju Daniels occupied the third position, with N300,000 cash prize.

As a marking of celebrating their efforts, the organisers also rewarded the tutors of the first, second and third winners with cash prizes of N300,000. N150,000 and N75,000 respectively.

Speaking with newsmen on the sideline of the event, Benjamin who emerged overall best, expressed gratitude to God and the organisers for giving her the opportunity.

“This really nice because it shows I am growing in studying the word of God, and now at 13,  I have already acquired one million naira.

“God, just by his mercies has made me to acquire One Million Naira, and this whole process has really drawn me closer to God,” she said.

Earlier in her remark, founder of the Discipleship Family Academy, Oluwatoyin Oboh, said the annual Bible Bee competition is geared towards building the foundation of children on ‘something of eternal value’, which is the word of God.

According to her, instilling biblical knowledge in the hearts of children is a vital part of leading them to faith in Jesus Christ and developing a spiritual family legacy in homes.

She therefore congratulated all children who participated in the competition, especially those who emerged winners.
