Edo: Vote competence not sentiments, PRP candidate urges electorate
By John Alechenu
The Governorship Candidate of the People’s Redemption Party, PRP, Mrs Patience Ndidi Key, has appealed to voters in the state to look beyond sentiments and vote for a competent and visionary candidate who would take the task of rebuilding the state seriously.
Key, who is the only female candidate in the race, stated this at a press conference in Abuja.
She noted that the visionary leadership she was making reference to was no respecter of gender, and enjoined voters not to be swayed by the trickery of some politicians who often entice voters with stipends with which they compromise the system for four years in the first instance.
She urged the people to look beyond stipends for vote-buying, gender and party affiliations, if Edo must be transformed to work for all.
According to her, Edo State was in dire need of visionary leaders to address the challenges of unemployment, poverty, hunger, deplorable critical infrastructure such as roads, schools and health facilities.
Describing herself as the only “David” in the race, she said she was in the race to win, to bring transformation, hope, progress and prosperity to Edo through human capital development and visionary leadership.
“I believe in God and great people of Edo State not to make the mistake of following the same people that have taken us backward,” she added.
She further explained that it was time to explore the talents and abundant resources of the state to develop the manufacturing industries, create wealth, and generate revenue.
She also promised to tackle insecurity, unemployment and hunger by empowering the people, saying “when we create jobs and environment for investment insecurity will disappeared.’’
While commending the security agencies for their investment of time and human resources to ensure peace in the state, she appealed to them to be professional and neutral on Election Day.
