Dr Moses Wambi has assumed office as the new Principal of the National Teachers College in Kabale, taking over from Benjamin Turyahikayo who recently retired.
Dr Wambi is the former Principal of Arua Core Primary Teachers College in Arua District.
The hand over function was held at the College boardroom in Kabale Municipality and was witnessed by the Governing board members led by Prof James Tumwine and staff.
Turyahikayo, who has been working as a Principal of NTC Kabale for the last 25 years was supposed to retire on November 1st 2019 after clocking the retirement age, but the Permanent Secretary gave him a contract of four months to continue running the college.
After the expiration of the four months, the Permanent Secretary again awarded him another 24 months contract, until recently when the Ministry of Education appointed a new principal.
In his hand over report, he informed the new Principle of the college’s budging debt, mostly accumulated from fees defaulters.
As of January 31st 2022 he said, the collage was owed Shs 113.million by students.
On his part, Dr Wambi praised Turyahikayo for his exemplary leadership, achievements and pledged to work with the college stakeholders to develop the institution.
