Deputy President William Ruto says subjecting form Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka to an interview on his suitability to be a running mate is humiliating.
This after Azimio-One Kenya Alliance formed a committee to vet suitable running mates for Presidential Aspirant Raila Odinga.
In a post on his social media page, Ruto was clear, “Though we are competitors, to subject HE Kalonzo to some humiliating ‘interview’ is impunity. We must unite to eliminate the culture of political deceit, the hallmark of some politicians. Whatever the circumstances every leader deserves some dignity and respect. Heshima si utumwa.”
His sentiments were echoed by Ford Kenya Party Leader Moses Wetangula who wrote on his Twitter account, “He is at it again: disrespecting and humiliating his comrades. Now HE Kalonzo is to prostrate himself before Raila loyalists to demonstrate his “suitability” to be a running mate. SKM you deserve better! The outpouring anger is justified.”
Kalonzo has since said he will not appear before the committee saying he should be the obvious candidate for the position.
At the same time Murangá Senator Irunga Kangáta has urged Kenyans to shun Presidential Aspirant Raila Odinga saying he doesn’t have the best interests of the Country at heart.
“Raila has handed over the ODM certificate to his brother Oburu who is in his late 80s to contest in Siaya, he has handed over a certificate to his sister as well to contest in Kisumu, none of them were subjected to party primaries. Raila has no time for the common Mwananchi that is why he is dissing out certificates to his kin and friends,” He said.
