‘Disappointing’: Department to probe Kelly Khumalo hate song [watch]

The department of basic education has vowed to investigate the shocking clip of a group of young learners singing a hate song about singer Kelly Khumalo and her slain boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa.

The viral video has received backlash on social media over its vulgar language.

Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead on 26 October 2014 in Vosloorus, whilst in the company of Kelly Khumalo and a group of their friends and family.

DEPARTMENT VOWS TO PROBE ‘HATE SONG’

In the clip, a group of school children – who appear under the age of 10 years old – are seen singing a “war cry” song targeting Kelly.

The young learners sing in isiZulu: “I hate Kelly Khumalo. She is a Johannesburg b**ch who murdered Senzo Meyiwa”

I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry

The children are from an identified school and it’s unclear if a teacher or a fellow pupil is recording the scene.

However, the department of education has promised to probe the incident and call to task those responsible. Spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga told Daily Sun: “It is indeed disappointing.

“The details are yet to be established and the matter is under investigation”.

KELLY KHUMALO’S REP RESPOND

Whilst Kelly Khumalo herself has remained mum on the disturbing clip, her management had stern words to say about it

Manager Kgothatso Tsotetsi told the publication: “This is nothing to do with Kelly, but an educational issue.

“It shows the level of maturity that teachers invent to these kids. I’m sure even their parents are not aware that these kids are uttering such words in class. The department is the problem here”.
