Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane may have hinted that he is staying at the ‘Club of the Century’ beyond the expiry of his current contract.
Mosimane is in the final few months of his contract with Al Ahly but talks are ongoing between the two parties.
Earlier this week, Al Ahly legend Ahmed Shobier revealed that Mosimane was set for a bumper R2.5 million-per-month deal at the club.
And while none of that has been confirmed by either Mosimane’s camp or Al Ahly, the South African mentor has suggested that he’s staying put.
MOSIMANE TELLS AL AHLY FANS: ‘TOGETHER WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK’
On Thursday, Al Ahly took to their social media platforms to pledge their support for Mosimane in the wake of the team’s loss to Palmeiras in the FIFA Club World Cup.
And Mosimane’s response gave it away that he is either close to agreeing a new deal with Al Ahly or the deal as good as done.
“Together we will definitely be back for the Club World Cup again next year,” said Mosimane.
Mosimane had given himself a mandate to at least guide Al Ahly to the FIFA Club World Cup final this year.
This after clinching the bronze medal in the previous edition, but it wasn’t to be as Palmeiras beat them 2-0 in the semi-finals.
Nonetheless, the Egyptian giants still have something to play for – the bronze medal – but they will have to get past Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in the 3rd/4th play-off match on Saturday.
For Mosimane and Al Ahly to return to the FIFA Club World Cup next year, they will have to win the CAF Champions League again.
If they achieve that, it would be Mosimane’s third successive CAF Champions League title with Al Ahly.
