Washington, 18 Nov 2020 (AFP) – American Democratic lawmakers re-elected President of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, 80, on Wednesday to lead the party in the Joe Biden era.

“Congratulations to @SpeakerPelosi, once again elected by the House Democrats to be our leader and nominated for President of the House for the 117th Congress!”, Tweeted the Democratic caucus.

Pelosi, the president’s main enemy Donald Trump in Congress, he has led the Chamber’s caucus since 2003.

Although there were proposals in the Democratic ranks to replace party leaders in the House, number 2 Steny Hoyer and number 3 James Clyburn are also in the process of renewal.

The formal vote in the House for the post of rapporteur will take place in January, after the start of the new legislature and shortly before Biden takes office as the 46th president of the United States.
