Former Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) defender Musa Ramathan has joined FC Cincinnati 2 on a season long deal with an option to purchase, pending league and federation approval.
Ramathan joins the Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati from MFK Vyskov in Czech Republic, a team he signed for in February 2022.
FC Cincinnati 2 is an American professional soccer team based in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It is the reserve team of FC Cincinnati and features in MLS Next Pro.
The lanky defender joined KCCA FC Soccer Academy in 2017 and featured for the junior side until 2019 when he was elevated to the senior team KCCA FC.
He captained the Junior Team for two years and won the 2019 FUFA Juniors League after defeating BUL FC in the final before he was promoted to the senior team and won the CECAFA Kagame Cup hosted in Rwanda the same year.
Ramathan also helped the U20 National Men’s side win the CECAFA Championship in Arusha, Tanzania, November/ December 2020 which served as the CECAFA qualifiers for the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Musa further helped the Uganda U20 side finish second in the AFCON U20 Championship hosted in Mauritania, February/March 2021.
“I’d like to welcome Musa to Cincinnati. He is a physical central defender with great potential who we believe can help our group and develop within the FC Cincinnati environment,” said FC Cincinnati 2 head coach Tyrone Marshall.
Musa becomes the second Ugandan player to join the Major League Soccer after former Vipers left back Aziz Kayondo who joined Real Salt Lake Salt.
