The captain of the Black Stars, Dede Ayew gave his side the advantage through a free kick after 19 minutes.

Mohammed Rahman failed to level for Sudan afterwards when he
had a one on one situation with Richard Ofori in post for Ghana as his shot
flew wide over the bar.

Rahman and his compatriots demanded for a penalty after he
claimed to have been fouled in the box by John Boye but Referee Maguitte Ndiaye
from Senegal ignored their claim.

Upon subsequent commotion by the coach of Sudan, the referee
gave him a yellow card.

Ghana failed to convert the few chances created in the first
half. The second half saw The Falcons of Jeddah making tactical changes to
press the Black Stars for an equalizer but the Ghanaian defense were so resolute
to avoid conceding.

On the 81st minute, Andre Ayew dribbled past the Sudanse players to slot home for the second goal and secure all three points.

The second leg comes off in Khartoum in four days time.
Ghana leads group C with nine points. Sudan follows with three points.

South Africa who also have three points will face Sao Tome
