Death toll in Kano building collapse rises to 3

Death toll from Thursday morning building collapse in Nomansland, Fagge Local government area of Kano State has risen to 3 persons.
This followed the recovery of additional one corpse.
Recall that two were earlier reported to have lost their lives while two others sustained injuries in the building collapse.
The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Coordinator, Kano Territorial Coordinator Office, Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi confirmed the recovery of the additional one corpse.
“The search and rescue operation’s team recovered one trapped body from the rubbles of the collapsed building.
“Similarly, search and rescue operation is still ongoing to rescue one remaining trapped victim.
“We are still looking for her, maybe she fell inside water because there is water close to the collapsed building.
“We ordered the Kano State fire service to dive and check the girl’s body under the water.
“We have also informed the Emir of Water (Sarkin Ruwa) to check if the water has taken the trapped victim’s body,” Abdullahi said.
Recall the two storey building was said have collapsed around 2am in wee hours of Thursday morning while the victims were in their sleep and as a result of heavy downpour recorded from Wednesday night through into Thursday morning.
