DCI arrest Kiambu woman known for putting ‘mchele’ in men’s drinks

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested a 29-year-old woman who puts ‘Mchele’ in men’s drinks at clubs around Kiambu.

Irene Njoki Irungu has been using the name Mitchelle in her con business for fear of identity.

The woman, fond of moving around different clubs in Kiambu has been spiking revelers’ drinks with a drug that leaves one tranquilized for up to 12 hours.

Mitchelle owns several sim cards, which she uses to transfer money from their victims’ phones after spiking their drinks.

“She has perfected her art in what is commonly described as ‘wekaing Mchele’ to the point of acquiring dozens of SIM Cards, where she deposits money stolen from stupefied victims’ bank accounts, then once the money has been successfully transferred, she withdraws it without raising any suspicion. Irene is suspected to be heading a syndicate of notorious criminals who prey on unsuspecting revelers, making merry in drinking joints within Ruaka and its environs in Kiambu county,” reads a report from DCI.

Other than money, the notorious suspect has also been allegedly stealing valuable household items from the revelers.

“Detectives based at Kiambaa have previously received reports from tenants who have lost every household item they owned, including their clothes, bedding and utensils, after they entertained a reveler whose description fits that of the suspect.”

During their search, detectives also found valuable mobile phones and wristwatches that are suspected to have been stolen from her stupified victims.
Mitchelle was arrested alongside one of her accomplices, Peter Irungu Wambugu, and are both held at the Karuri police station.
