CS Muturi lauds President Ruto’s commitment to improving lives of service personnel
Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary, Justin Muturi has lauded President William Ruto for his commitment to improving the lives of service personnel through the establishment of the National Taskforce on the Improvement of Terms and Conditions for critical institutions.
Speaking during the launch of the Strategic Framework for the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, and National Youth Service said the framework established under Kenya Kwanza Administration marks a major milestone in transforming Kenya’s security and youth service sectors.
He said the taskforce, formed on 21st December 2022, has brought about 117 recommendations, addressing key reforms aimed at enhancing service personnel welfare, operational efficiency, and institutional strength.
Muturi also spelt out its key achievements noting that 95pc of taskforce recommendations are under implementation.
He also said that Phase One of salary improvements for National Youth Service (NYS) officers has been realized, bringing immediate relief.
Similarly, 34 new policies have been developed to guide the continued reform of these institutions.
“The taskforce’s recommendations focus on three key areas: administrative actions, legislative changes, and funding requirements. Notably, three critical allowances for high-risk officers remain under review, with the Ministry optimistic about securing the necessary budgetary allocations.” CS Muturi said.
The CS remarked that this initiative, coupled with the Ministry’s full commitment to supporting the taskforce’s recommendations, is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, and the National Youth Service, ensuring their personnel are well-supported in their service to the nation.
