Contec Global Bolsters Liberia’s Immigration System with Fleet of New Vehicles for Digitized Permit Project

MONROVIA — Contec Global, an international company operating in Liberia, has turned over brand new vehicles to the authorities of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) to enhance its current digitized Alien Resident Permit project across the country. Contec Global was awarded a contract by the Government of Liberia in 2021 to digitize the Liberia Alien Resident Permit. Countries in the region are already operating digitized-based systems for immigration formalities. Contec Global was contracted by the government of Liberia following a competitive tender process for both Alien Resident Permit and work services by the Public Procurement and Concession Committee (PPCC) to operate digitized Resident Permits for the Liberian Alien community.

Madam Veronica Monte, Head of Business Development at Contec Global, noted that the items turned over from Contec Global’s fleet were meant to address some of the challenges confronting reaching out to the Alien community in Liberia. She expressed her company’s willingness to work with the LIS in addressing issues confronting the forward march of the LIS.

Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Republic of Liberia, expressed thanks and appreciation to Contec Global for the items to enhance LIS’s digitized Alien Resident Permit.

Hon. Musu Bility, Chairman of National Security of the House of Representatives, praised Contec Global for providing support to the Digitized Alien Resident Permit initiative to be used across the country. He spoke of the importance of protecting Liberia’s borders and the free movement of ECOWAS citizens, among other matters.

Commissioner General (CG) of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), Atty. Stephen Zargo, praised his institution’s partner for the turnover of items to the LIS. He noted that the items were timely and would be used for their intended purpose.

A representative from Ecobank Liberia also pledged the bank’s continued support to Contec Global.

The turnover ceremony of Contec Global’s fleet was well attended by officials of the Government of Liberia, all LIS Deputy Commissioner Generals, and officers, among others.
