Construction of phase two of BetPawa Park to commence
The construction of phase two at the BetPawa Park is set to begin at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram. This announcement was made by Ntoudi Mouyelo, the Managing Director of Mchezo Limited, operators of BetPawa, during a press conference on Tuesday.Mouyelo explained that the original contract has been modified to a locker room contract, allowing the continuation of stadium work independent of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).So this is a pure CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative between us and the contractors, he stated. In August, the GFA formally opened the pitch for use after completing the first phase, which included a playing pitch, substitute bench, and changing rooms. The construction of the pitch is part of BetPawa’s obligations under a contract signed with the GFA two years ago.On August 3, 2022, the GFA announced a three-year deal worth $6 million with BetPawa, making them the headline sponsors of the Ghana Premier League. At that time, GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku noted that this investment would lead to the construction of a new pitch at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, which would be named the BetPawa pitch. However, a year into this contract, BetPawa terminated its agreement with the league. Despite this termination, they have maintained a positive relationship with the football regulator, ensuring that the BetPawa project remains unaffected.Phase two will include additional facilities aimed at enhancing the overall infrastructure at the center, further contributing to the development of football in Ghana.
