Comedian Njugush shares his mother’s tips for overcoming bed-wetting

Comedian Njugush recently shared two inspiring stories about tricks his mother used to help him stop wetting the bed.

The father of two said his mother would go to the market, five kilometres from their home, and get sweets to reward the one who did not wet the bed.

“It was between my brother and me. To make sure we got the sweet, you had to make sure you didn’t wet the bed. We would get sweets for not wetting the bed,” he said.

The comedian also narrated an experience about having a drunkard aunt who always came home with sweets no matter how drunk she was.

The comedian recently launched his first book titled, ‘Whispers From My Childhood’ talking about his childhood memories.

In one episode, the father of two recounted how he once led a gang of two to a neighbor’s farm, where they cut down banana trees.

He explained that he had taken his brother and cousin to the forest to showcase his new tree-felling skills, which he had learned from a village feller.

Armed with a hacksaw, Njugush and his companions encountered a neighborhood child named Kanyiri, whom they decided to bring along before invading the boy’s grandmother’s farm.

At the farm, he methodically cut down the banana trees one after another until late in the evening when they decided to postpone the activity until the following day.

“That evening, Kanyiri’s grandmother came to visit. We were having tea, and the tea suddenly became tasteless upon seeing her. She did not even waste time with small talk; she shot straight to reporting how we had vandalized her farm,” he recalls.

“That evening, we experienced what my people call ‘Kanyoni wa Ng’ethe.’ Little brother and I received thorough flogging in turns, and then, just as a reminder that I was never to mislead Kadugu again, Mother gave me an extra beating,” he adds.
