Clinical officers in Murang’a, led by the General Secretary of the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers, George Gibore have said the strike will continue until their demands are met.
Gibore speaking in Murang’a following a meeting with governor Irungu Kang’ata, said they had discussed their expectations with the governor and were hopeful their demands will be met.
He said they had agreed that the governor will employ more clinical officers to serve in the over 170 health facilities in the county
Gibore who said that there were issues with the promotions of clinical officers stated that they had agreed that the county will adhere to the newly approved career progression guidelines for clinical officers personnel.
One of the clinical officers, Beatrice Wanjiru, who was one of the clinical officers employed under Universal health Coverage during the Corona pandemic, said that they had been forgotten and they therefore demanded that their terms of employment be changed from contract to permanent like those of their colleagues saying they have similar work experience and working conditions.
The clinical officers also demanded that the government increase their risk allowance from three thousand to 15,000.
