City Pastor Charged with Obtaining Money by False Pretence, Remanded to Kitalya

Pastor Sirajje Ssemanda, the lead pastor at Revival Ministries Church, Bombo has been charged before Buganda Road Court with 17 counts of obtaining money by false pretense.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) headed by Lt Col Edith Nakalema arrested pastor Ssemanda on Sunday.

Ssemanda was arrested for allegedly defrauding over 400 private school owners and thousands of parents of vulnerable children.

SHACU announced on Sunday that over 4 billion shillings had been defrauded by him on promises of getting them scholarships, trips abroad and connecting them to Operation Wealth Creation.

Ssemanda was arrested at Mutukula border as he attempted to escape to Tanzania.

“Mr Sirajje Ssemanda a lead pastor at Revival Ministries Church, Bombo has been arrested along the Mutukula border as he tried to escape to Tanzania for allegedly defrauding over 400 private school owners and thousands of parents of vulnerable children,” announced State House Anti-Corruption Unit on Sunday.

“Over UGX4Bn has been defrauded by him on promises of getting them scholarships, trips abroad and connecting with them to Operation Wealth Creation,” it added.

Ssemanda was on Monday produced before Buganda Road Court and charged with 17 counts of obtaining money by false pretense and remanded to Kitalya prison.

“Mr Sirajje Ssemanda had appeared before Buganda Road Court and charged with 17 counts of obtaining money by false pretense. He has been remanded to Kitalya prison,” SHACU announced on Monday evening.
