At long last, Kaizer Chiefs are finally back on the pitch on Saturday evening. The job is Nedbank Cup last 32 action against TS Galaxy.
KAIZER CHIEFS STAR KHAMA BILLIAT SHARES NEDBANK CUP PLAN
As The South African confirmed this week, Amakhosi will be playing their first game of the year. The event is a Nedbank Cup last 32 battle against TS Galaxy at the FNB Stadium.
Looking ahead to the game, the club’s attacking midfield ace – Billiat – was asked what the mission is. Most players will repeat the same cliche of ‘we will take it one game at a time’ or ‘we can’t think too far ahead of ourselves,’ – but not Billiat.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town star has said Kaizer Chiefs are gunning to go all the way to the final and win the Nedbank Cup.
“We have rested well and we have gotten enough time to boost our energy again,” said Billiat via the club’s media.
“it’s a new campaign and we need to start strong. We need to make sure that we go through all the way and bring it home,” he concluded.
DOCTOR KHUMALO EXPECTS AMAKHOSI TO CLAIM NEDBANK CUP GLORY
The club’s former superstar Doctor Khumalo is in agreement with Billiat. Khumalo, known as ‘16V,” has reminded the club that the Glamour Boys are a cup team. This is what the club has always dominated.
The Nedbank Cup lays an opportunity to continue or revive the tradition.
“Knockout games test your pedigree. It was always a norm at Kaizer Chiefs to go all out and win silverware for the fans,” the former midfielder said via the club’s media.
“We were specialists in knockout football,” Khumalo added.
So, will the players get the message and respond ideally? We will just have to wait for the 18:00 kickoff at Soccer City to find out.
