Chief Justice, Deputy Speaker, Oulanyah’s Brother Travel to U.S

Chief Justice, Alfonse Owiny-Dollo; Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among and the brother of the hospitalized Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah have on Tuesday evening left Uganda for the United States.

The trio was booked to depart from Entebbe International Airport at 5:00pm and expected to arrive in Washington on Wednesday, according to sources.

His Lordship the CJ, the Right Honorable D.S and Mr. Francis Emuna left Entebbe today for the U.S,” said a source at Parliament.

Emuna has worked as a supportive staff at Parliament for a number of years, even before the brother became the Speaker.

The abrupt travelling of the trio to a country where the Speaker has been hospitalized for over a month now since February 3, 2022 when he left Uganda on a chartered Uganda Airlines Flight UR 2, plane registration number 5x-NIL, has left many worried.

The Parliament plenary sitting on Tuesday sat for only 30 minutes leaving Members of Parliament, staff and visitors worried.

Parliament spokesperson Chris Obore said Among was traveling to check on Oulanya.

“Checking on a patient is only a proper thing,” Obore told ChimpReports on Tuesday evening.

“DS (Among) is going to see the condition of her boss and perhaps brief him on what so far has been done in the House,” he emphasized.

”Is there a patient who is never visited by family, friends and relatives ?” Obore wondered, adding, “The visit is only proper.”

This investigative website reported last week that Oulanyah would stay in the U.S until April 2022 as per the advice of the doctors at the specialized facility in Seattle.

He last chaired Parliament on November 24, 2021 and will unprecedentedly be away from the seat for over 150 days by April 2022.
