Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong âlikely to agree new dealâ
Chelsea sensation Josh Acheampong is likely to agree a new deal with the club despite the recent conflict over his contract situation, FootballInsider has reported.The English-born of Ghanaian descent was frozen out of the Chelsea team due to his unwillingness to extend his stay at the club.The Athleticreported on 22 October Acheampong will not play for any of Chelseas first team or development sides until he agrees a new deal.However, the promising defender is set to sign a new contract extension at the club.Acheampong, who has been a target for Liverpoolwas one of the many academy players who were handed their debut at the tail end of the 2023/24 season under Mauricio Pochettino.The 18-year-old made his debut for the club in the 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in May coming for the last 12 minutes of the encounter.The youngster was seen as the club’s third-choice right-back after Reece James and Malo Gusto. Under Enzo Maresca, Acheampong played 27 minutes in the EFL Cup game against Barrow in September, with that being his only appearance so far.Acheampong has so far made three appearances in the Premier League 2 with an assist to his credit.
