A friend of Galatasaray and Egypt national striker Mostafa Mohamed has been arrested after taking multiple exams in his place.
Mohamed, 24, is currently on international duty with the Pharaohs at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
Mohamed, who is a student in the Madina Academy Higher Institute in Shabramant, Egypt had to miss his first term exams due to his participation at the tournament.
However, the institute’s board was no doubt surprised to find Mostafa’s name on the test papers, which led to an investigation.
After having done so, it turned out a friend of the player was taking the exams in his place, and the impersonator was caught by the institute’s security during the following test!
The man was asked to show his ID, which he first refused, but when he did, it was discovered that he isn’t even a registered student in the institute.
Imposter ‘only wanted to help’ his Egypt striker friend
Following his arrest, the unnamed man explained that he only wanted to help his friend Mostafa Mohamed.
“I wanted to help my friend with his future. I mean, he’s representing our country right now,” Mohamed’s friend said.
The unnamed impersonator also admitted to taking three tests instead of Mohamed in the past.
