We celebrate Rafael Nadal today for his great achievements in the world of Association Tennis.
He recently captured his 13th French Open record title to tie rival Roger Federer for the male tennis player’s single most Grand Slam titles.

He recently beat Novak Djokovic to win his 13th French Open Title.

Both Nadal and Federer have won 20 grand slam titles now, but with this hard work, the Spanish sportsman deserves special praise.

Nadal is currently ranked world No. 2 in men’s singles tennis by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP)

Named as Rafael Nadal Parera, the master of Clay Court was born in Mananco located in the Balearic Islands of Mallorca in Spain on June 3rd 1986.

His father is Sebastián Nadal Homar, a businessman who also operates an insurance firm, as well as Vidres Mallorca, a glass and window firm, and Sa Punta, a restaurant in Spain. His mother is Ana María Parera Femenías. Rafael also has a younger sister called María Isabel.

At the tender age of three, he started his tennis career when his uncle, Toni Nadal, introduced him to the game. But at the age of eight, he captured his first title and that was the regional under-12 tennis championship.

He would go on to win the Spanish and European titles in his age group when he was 12 years. At age 15, Nadal turned Professional and competed in two tournaments; the ITF Junior circuit and later the ATP.

He gave himself an eternal birthday gift on his 19th birthday by beating Roger Federer in the semi- finals of the 2005 French Open Tournament.

On June 5th 2005, Rafa defeated Mariano Puerta to win his first grand slam. He equaled Mats Wilander’s record as the only person to have won it on his first attempt.

Nadal has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles, tied with Roger Federer for the most in history for a male player, as well as 35 ATP Tour Masters 1000 titles, 21 ATP Tour 500 titles and 2 Olympic gold medals.

He won gold in singles at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and then doubles at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In addition, Nadal has held the world No. 1 ranking for a total of 209 weeks, including being the year-end No. 1 five times.

A record 13 French Open titles, 4 US Open titles, 2 Wimbledon titles and 1 Australian Open title have been won by the Mallorca born champion, winning at least one Grand Slam each year for a record ten consecutive years (2005-2014).

Overall, Nadal has won 86 career titles, including the Open Era’s most outdoor titles (84) and a record 60 titles on clay with 81 straight wins.

In the Open Era, Nadal holds the record for the longest single-surface win streak.

For the most Grand Slam titles won without losing a set of four, all at the French Open, as well as the all time record (male or female) for the most titles at a single Grand Slam event, he also holds the all-time male record.

His total prize money is US$122,905,214.
